The Sweater Grows!

Joining Small Things for Yarn Along today! The sweater for Maddie is starting to come together. I finally finished the sleeves. Her arms are long! I think she was 3 the last time I knit her a sweater so that probably explains it! Now I've sewed together one shoulder seam and am working on the neck. Its a turtleneck so it will take a bit of time but not too much. Maybe next week I will have a finished sweater to show off!
We are about a month into our summer break so I have more time for reading in the evening! My stack is pretty big this week though because I am including one from Memorial Day Weekend when I wasn't feeling good. It was such an easy read and fun. That one is called The Wedding Shawl and is a "knitting mysetery". Throughout the book a group of friends is working on a wedding shawl for a friend getting married. I just finished The Lady and the Unicorn by Tracy Chevalier which was good but I didn't enjoy it as much as The Last Runaway. Last night I started Little Bee and that is intriguing me right from the start. There is a big "something" that happened previous to the start of the book but I haven't found out what it is yet. Hmmmm.....

At the bottom of the pile is Charlotte Mason Companion. I am just learning about Charlotte Mason a bit more although we've been homeschooling for 5 years going on 6. We have been using The Well Trained Mind as our "how to" book and the more I read about Charlotte Mason the more I see that really we've been doing both. I am finding this book very interesting and enjoying it quite a bit. It may be one that I end up adding to my homeschool collection!

  1. I love all homeschooling books. We really just started this past year - my oldest is 5 - and I feel like I use everything under the sun. It will probably become more defined over time, but for now we like to be very pick and choose about what we use :-) Congrats on an *almost* finished project!

  2. Those little people do that... grow! What's with that? If she's anything like my girls the color is perfect.

Charlotte Mason doesn't look so good here in my house. My Companion is bedraggled and dog-eared. I purchased it about 15 years ago and re-read it every summer (and referenced throughout the years) for at least 9 of those!

And the Wedding Shawl? Adding that, too! Thank you! Lastly, pretty pretty pink!

  5. Charlotte Mason Companion is also one of my go-to homeschooling books that has been read and reread many times. Nice work on the sweater! They do grow up, don't they. :)
