Yarn Along

Joining Small Things for the yarn along today! I managed to finish the neckline of the sweater for Maddie but haven't sewn it together yet. We've been busy!!

 

I am still reading Little Bee as well. Its rather dark overall but has had some funny moments. I read a couple spots out loud to my husband that were funny and parts I knew he would appreciate. Maddie and I are reading 2 books at the same time. One is The Silver Chair from The Chronicles of Narnia. Maddie has enjoyed the series but I think her absolute favorite is still The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. These books are the ones I had when I was Maddie's age. The other one we are really enjoying is An Owl in the House; A Naturalist's Diary by Bernd Heinrich. I read about it in Charlotte Mason Companion and knew immediately it was something Maddie would love. The author rescues a baby owl in the woods and takes it home. He explains that it went against all his instincts as a zoologist and biologist but something about the baby bird just made him pick it up and take it home. I especially love that it seems to have had an effect on Maddie's own nature journal. Tonight she added in the baby Canada geese we saw on Saturday along with some notes about it. Maddie and I have Thursday off from day care for her dance recital so perhaps I will have time to finish the sweater.
