I had to smile this morning when I came downstairs. I am generally the first one up in our house. During the week I am up because my day care crew will be showing up and I need to make sure some things are put away and have a few moments of quiet. Yesterday our first order from Rainbow Resources arrived which prompted the principal and I have to a meeting last night while I knit him a pair of socks. As generally happens I was suddenly too sleepy to stay up and headed directly to bed so this is what greeted my eyes this morning. I thought that will be perfect for the yarn along with Small Things today!
As an aside, did you know that Rainbow Resources has something called "The First Fruits" sale? During June all their profit goes to a fund to help homeschool families in need so I generally try to do at least a small order. In the picture you can see we were looking at The Well Trained Mind, Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain (an art book!), Charlotte Mason Companion and The Ultimate Guide to your Microscope. We also had the Rainbow Resource catalog out and were checking out the new hot dots pen and hot dots. At one point we were reading through our favorite science program as well, Elemental Science, Biology for the Logic Stage. Brian must've put that away.
The pattern for Brian's socks is from my favorite sock book, Get Started Knitting Socks and is just the basic sock pattern. The yarn is from Knitpicks and is called kindling from the stroll tonal sock yarn.
I finally finished both Maddie and Emily's sweaters. You can see them here. That was fun but I'm glad I finished before the heat hits here! Enjoy the yarn along!
What a perfect shot for the yarn along. And a great stack of books.

ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely idea to help homeschool families in need (ex-homeschooler here, my son is 21 now). I recognise some of those books!
ReplyDeleteI would love to knit some socks, I am a beginner knitter really. Socks are on my wish list!
I love the get started knitting socks book Debbie. It is the place I learned to knit socks and is very thorough.
