Isn't it something?
The egg fits perfectly in that spot in the nest.
We decided this egg must have been a "dud". Maddie was sad but I reminded her how some of the chicken eggs didn't hatch and we also recalled from our reading that robins usually lay 4 eggs. Hopefully there were 3 survivors!
As usual 1 thing led to another and I ended up cleaning off the nature shelf. It was needed that's for sure! I had read on Handbook of Nature Study that keeping rocks in clear containers was a good way to show them off. Of course she was much more organized than me and had each jar labeled with the place the rocks were found! Ours just kind of migrate onto the shelf and I soon forget exactly where they came from....maybe that's due to about 4 children being involved and only 1 being my own! I was quite please with the results though. I just kept stacking things in the jars-rocks, shells, and feathers all got their own jar. Maddie said it looked just like a museum which, coming from her, is a compliment!
As you can see the nest is taking up quite a bit of space! And yes, there are still some rocks hanging about that were too big or too interesting for the jar! Now they can all start investigating and messing it up again!
