Waiting on the porch to get checked in. Happy smile!
This is one BUSY schedule. Maddie was excited that lights out wasn't until 10. I'm betting that by Wednesday she will be asleep long before then whether she wants to be or not!
One of the funny moments happened when we first arrived. The camp director was giving a speech to everyone with some directives for parents. He said "I promise you that we will feed your child. In fact, no offense, but it will probably be the best food they eat all summer since everything is homemade even the bread. Please don't leave food in the cabin since it will call extra campers if you get my meaning." I looked at Brian and said Hey! He grinned back and said Don't forget most of these kids are probably eating out a couple times a week then having Kraft Mac and Cheese the other nights. Yes, probably its a sad truth. Maddie will be right at home in the food department at least!
Maddie was thrilled to hear that all the girl cabins are named for birds. Her cabin is Cardinal. We noticed there was an Owl cabin but wisely did not point it out. She will figure that out later! Her cabin mates are all in 6th grade with the exception of one other 5th grader. We didn't get to meet anyone but I'm sure Maddie will manage it all just fine. We left her on the way to the Ark which is a gym to play games and meet everyone. We are all (day care kiddos included!) missing her but also know that she is having a grand time!
