Our little day care buddy Collin was diagnosed with neuroblastoma last Thanksgiving. Maddie has been wanting to do something, anything for kids with cancer ever since. I have to say however the choices were a bit thin, at least the ones we could find! Our location is not ideal to try to do a lemonade stand or similar thing to raise funds. We did find a very cool bake sale idea online but I couldn't see how to implement it with our 4H group as we wanted to do. Then I remembered
ConKerr Cancer. It was a wonderful find. They ask for pillowcases which are then distributed to children fighting cancer. It gives the children something bright and cheerful but also homemade with love.
Tonight Maddie had her first sewing lesson and made her first pillowcase for Collin! We were both excited that it was so easy. I did help but only very little. All the seams are straight so things went together smoothly. We are planning to make them with our 4H group this fall and have already contacted the local coordinator who has been very helpful and friendly.
A first ironing lesson as well. Maddie actually asked if she could iron her clothes now!
Yay! Almost done!
Woo hoo!! One Thomas pillowcase for Collin!
I love Thomas! Well done, Maddie!
