Yarn Along

I am having fun participating in the Yarn Along from Small Things. Our fifth grade plan is looking good. We have chosen lots of things that are new, some that are not. Its still a work in progress but we seem to have a good handle on it. So I went back to a novel this week. I found a new one from Jennifer Chiaverini about Elm Creek Quilts called The Giving Quilt. They are fun easy reads. Maddie and I also read and finished Number the Stars by Lois Lowry. It tells a fictional account of a family helping another Jewish family out of Denmark during World War II. Its an amazing story and at the end the author explains which parts are fiction and which are true. It was good to read about such a small country standing up against something so very wrong. We both enjoyed it.

My knitting is a small side project to Maddie's sweater. This is from the Mason Dixion Knitting outside the lines and is a cover for my swiffer sweeper. In muddy March my swiffer is a necessity with 6 muddy children coming through the door! I made one of these a while ago and love it because I can wash it then continue to use it. Its easy and portable with not too many stitches to the end of the row! Hope everyone has a good Wednesday!!
