Yarn Along

Yarn Alonging today with Small Things. I'm showing off a finished piece today. Maddie chose her Easter dress (not made by me this year!) and I have been working on a similar one to match for her American Girl doll Emily. Maddie's dress has a turquoise shrug with a flower patterned dress. So I made a doll sized shrug. I found the pattern on Ravelry and its the second time I've used it. The yarn is Vanna's Choice. The dress is almost done and I'm hoping to finish it tonight!

Maddie and I have read The Easter Story by Brian Wildsmith several times over the last week. Its a favorite one we get from the library every year. It tells the story of holy week from the donkey's point of view. He tells about carrying Jesus on Palm Sunday right through the discovery that the tomb is empty. We love the pictures. Brian Wildsmith uses lots of animals throughout his books and this one is no exception. As a family we are reading Eighty Days: Nellie Bly and Elizabeth Bisland's History Making Race Around the World. Brian and Maddie are currently reading Around the World in 80 Days for world geography wrap up.We read about this book and were able to get it from the library. The two books go together well since the reason for the race was to see if they could beat Phileas Fogg. Its a 2 week book so we may end up using everyone's library card in order to get through it! So far its been enjoyable with only slight Momma editing as I read for little ears.

Happy Easter!! I'll post of pictures of the somewhat matching girl and doll dresses next week!
