We went again to homeschool day at Old Sturbridge Village. It is a bit of a drive but we have such fun there its worth it. Maddie had only one class this time. They made marbled paper, a woodblock print of maple syrup tapping and wrote with a quill pen. Maddie had fun doing all these things but we were a bit disappointed with the actual "educational" part. There wasn't a lot of explaination. We also got to see them making maple syrup and compare it to our trips to the local sugar houses in modern times. The same yet different and with different results too! In Sturbridge they were more concerned with getting the sugar than the syrup. Later in the day Maddie was given the chance to grate some maple sugar into cookie dough. It looked like a cone of solid brown sugar. We also had the fun of seeing 2 almost brand new baby sheep. I am putting the video at the end because they were just so cute....and so is Maddie's giggles in the background. Unfortunately our camera's memory card seems to have kicked the bucket so all the fun pictures I took that day were gone when we got home! I was so upset! At least Brian was with us so we had double duty going on with the pictures! Enjoy!!
