Samantha Arrives and a lost tooth

Today was a big day at the Westervelt house! Maddie lost her third tooth this morning...its the third one but the first she has removed without assistance! The first one was kicked out accidentally by one of the day care kids (it was already loose) and the second had to be pulled by the dentist. So this was a huge deal and Maddie had fun showing off her hole. Its a small one though because her adult tooth is already popping right up there behind it. Now she is trying to go to sleep so the tooth fairy can make her arrival.
Then we had what Maddie thought was a tea party with her Mamaws and cousin Karen. Actually Karen was delivering Samantha to Maddie from Aunt Elise. As you can see in the pictures Maddie was more than thrilled. She has been wanting one of the American Girls (a big sister for her Bitty Baby Elizabeth) for almost a year now. Brian and I told her if she could save up half the amount we would chip in the other half. We knew she could accomplish that since she had saved the money for her ticket to the Nutcracker by returning bottles to the grocery store and saving up her allowances and change that she managed to wrangle from her grandparents. Samantha came with a couple of outfits and many small items including glasses, a lunch tin with food, a doll for the doll and a whistle. Maddie has hardly let go of her since her arrival and I think we have friends for a good long while! Karen also brought along pictures from their trip to Disney on Ice before Christmas. It was a bit like Christmas all over again today for Maddie!
Next week is back to our normal routine. I think the time off has done both of us good though and we are ready for things to get back to normal a bit!
