The teacher's manual said we would need 20-30 items. We have been saving boxes, cans and anything else I could think of over the last week so we could set this up. Maddie's grandparents also contributed items. Maddie needed to categorize the items and set them up. In the next few days we are going to put prices on the items and then practice adding pennies and dimes when we "buy" groceries.
What the manual did not say and what I underestimated was the amount of enjoyment Maddie would get out of the whole process! I knew she would have fun and planned to leave it up for an extended period so the day care kids could play too but the amount of pure excitment surprised me a bit! We had a singing and dancing commercial for The Pink Penny immediately following the grand opening!
So if you stop by our house in the next week be ready to do some grocery shopping!
