Egyptian Dinner

We had our Egyptian dinner tonight. Mamaw Mary and Poppa Bill joined us since we promised to keep the pizza guy's number at the ready! Fortunately it was pretty good. Maybe not something we would have again but something that filled us up and tasted Ok.

Here is the menu:
Hommus with pita bread and carrot sticks
dates with cream cheese (contrubited by Mamaw and Poppa)
Chicken Stew with Lima Beans and Spinach
Seseame Cookies

The hommus, dates and cookies were quite good. The chicken stew was green like pea soup and had LOTS of lima beans. Nothing ventured, nothing gained! Maddie had a wonderful time getting the centerpiece ready to go. We tried to make sand bricks but only managed to get one really good looking one. Then we tried to get sugar cubes to make the pyramid with no luck! We could only find sugar pellets which are rectangles. Fortunately these did work with some fudging on our part and Brian doing a stone masons job with the sugar pellets! Poppa Bill made Maddie a slide show of pictures from his trip through the Suez Canal which were really neat. All in all it was a lot of fun and we got a little taste of Egypt here in Scotia.

This morning in church Maddie played an African drum while singing with the children's choir. She had a wonderful time playing it but was upset that we couldn't see her since she was behind the piano. We could hear her which was the most important part and she did a great job.
