Bye to Kindergarten

Maddie finished her final Kindergarten workbook this morning. She managed it just in time to make the bowling trip we promised her if she could get the last pages done. At this time of year none of us want to do anything but be out in the yard playing and it was making completing the work rough. Brian and I are so proud of all she accomplished this year. We completed 4 math workbooks (we were only supposed to do 2 but we blew through them so quick we did the 2 year program in 1 year!) and completed 4 phonics workbooks. She is reading well and we have accomplished quite a bit in the dreaded "big blue book" otherwise known as The Ordinary Parents' Guide to Teaching Reading. Science is always an easy subject for her and we have done many experiments. The latest experiment is The Frankenstien Hand....a twist on the vinegar and baking soda volcano that involves a glass and rubber glove. Maddie has also learned the Pledge of Allegiance and gotten an idea of how people lived before things like TV, leapsters and computers. In addition she has been taking dance lessons and participating in Sunday School at church. Over the summer we will be working in a summer book called Summer Bridge to help keep her sharp and will also continue with "the big blue book" as much as possible. We had a fun time at the bowling alley tonight to celebrate. On to First Grade!! Yikes, I can't believe we got there so darn fast!!
