The big day of the dance recital arrived finally! We were concerned that Maddie might not make it because on Thursday evening and Friday she had a temperature. However all we did was rest and take Tylenol which all seemed to do the trick. She was fine at rehersal on Friday night and full of energy on Saturday evening. We were so very proud of her! She was smiling and happy and the expression on her face at the end made the year long routine of dance class worth the effort. The recital was held at Proctor's and the mc was a former Merritt student who now plays Indiana Jones at Walt Disney World. The entire show was very long but overall pretty enjoyable. Many of the groups have won awards in competitions. I can see a long future for us with Mrs.Merritt and Maddie is looking forward to it. As good as the rest of her recitals will be in years to come I think this one will always be our favorite...the first day we got to see her simply bask in the applause!!
Have patience with the video, there is quite a bit of black at the beginning so Brian wouldn't miss the start of her song. As you can see the "pop and roll" was everyone's favorite...not only the kids but the audience as well. Wait at the end for Maddie's realization that there is actually people out there applauding!!
