Yarn Along

I've been reading a blog called Small Things and really enjoying it. This mom has a large family-6 kids! I too have 6 kids but only 1 24/7. She has a feature called a Yarn Along to show what she is knitting and reading and invites other people to join in. I thought I would this week!

I'm reading Pride and Prejudice. A lovely new copy from my parents for Christmas given to me directly from their library at home. My own copy purchased in high school had seen much better days. Its nice to read without the cover falling off! Along with that I am reading the articles in Jane Austen knits, a Christmas gift from my husband. I have a couple knitting projects going but the main one, pictured here, is a new sweater for Maddie. There is a matching dolly one for Emily. The pattern is one my mom often made for me when I was Maddie's age and younger.

This morning the kids and I are waiting anxiously to see if our little buddy Collin can come for a quick visit. Everyone must be healthy and Collin will need to be out of the clinic in time. He is fighting neuroblastoma and we miss him very much. Fingers crossed!!!

  1. Lovely sweater! And what a nice gift, to have a less worn copy of a beloved favorite! -- Kathy at http://www.needleandspade.com

    1. Its Vanna White yarn that I got at Michaels. When I make something for Maddie I try to get easy to care for yarn. The color is called Rose mist. We were aiming for a similar color to one in the American Girl catalog. A dolly sweater is also in progress. The pattern is from a Woman's Day magazine from the 70s.
