Children's Sermon and Independence Day!

During May and June our pastor and his son have been walking the Camino de Santiago or the Way of St.James. We have had a lot of fun looking at pictures he has sent back and listening to Maddie's questions. Mostly she has had a lot of concerns about rain! At the end of June his wife, who is also a pastor at our church, left for Portugal to pick him up. She asked me if I could do the children's sermon on June 24 since the substitute pastor wasn't comfortable with that portion of the service. I can't say that I was too comfortable either but I had listened to Brian try to help Pastor Jan locate a substitute so I felt that I could help in this way if it alleviated stress on all concerned! Plus Maddie was bouncing up and down next to me telling me "You can do it Momma! You can! We can! I will help!". So we talked about the Lord's Prayer in both english and a little bit in latin since Maddie is trying to memorize it in latin. Bri took a picture when we weren't looking!
There weren't many kids as you can see! Most of the ones who were there we knew...one from day care, one from 4H. There were other children but they were sitting in front of us. We had fun and it seemed to go well!

I picked up some new sidewalk chalk for Maddie and the kids. It is red, white and blue. Maddie was disappointed at only 3 colors but then she got creative!

Our favorite was Patrick Henry......

Give Me Liberty or Give Me Death!!!

She passes American History with no problems at all.

We saw the fireworks at Collin's Park in Scotia from a great vantage point...the back lawn of our church! Every year we have a church picnic and the kids play games while waiting for the dark to be dark enough. Maddie had a grand time. We even decorated her scooter for the occasion. Unfortunately the pictures will have to wait...we are having computer issues!

Here is Maddie with some 4H buddies who also attend our church playing a raucous game of Uno!

Hope you had a fun Independence Day!!
