Here is Maddie's 4th of July scooter:
Maddie gets the award for being the biggest ham on camera!
Finally I got her to stand still for just one second please...thanks....just a tad excited!
Then we finished the second Harry Potter book, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. We read this one a bit ahead of schedule because Maddie is working on a bunch of science kits that relate to this book in the series. Currently we have a nose "growing" and sprouts sprouting on the dining room table from these kits. I finally moved the nose...its just too gross to look at while eating. Here are pictures of Maddie trying to fly a key from one of the kits.
After we finished the book we watched the movie. This is how we try to work things usually and Maddie has come to agree that generally the books are better than the movies. We all agree that the movies are fun though. So we had a Harry Potter dinner while watching!
an Americanized version of bangers and mash--sausage sandwich(Brian & I had peppers & onions too) and homemade baked fries
cauldron cakes and pumpkin juice for dessert!
This week we've been busy! Maddie and I attened the American Girl night at SPAC for the ballet. We had a great time! One of Maddie's favorite things is the photo booth.

Who could blame her? What fun! She also had her picture taken by the Albany Times Union with her buddy Katherine.

They were, of course, the two cutest American Girls there!
As always a price must be paid for so much fun! Maddie crashed the next day in the kitchen at naptime while listening to The Kane Chronicles. We are on book 2 and loving it!
She was using the right quilt because Thursday night we went to the Schenectady Museum to see a moon rock! Its one of 8 that are on display and one that you can touch! Maddie was thrilled to see it and touch it. I have to say though it is mighty small and they have polished it up so no one would get hurt on it. Moon rocks are razor sharp and the last thing NASA needs right now (or any time) is a lawsuit!
Brian and Maddie's hand on the rock!
The big tent where it was all happening
Talking with Brian and the woman from NASA about space food. Maddie thought something was bacon but it turned out to be teriyaki vegetables!
trying on a training glove
Maddie had to step up into this for a picture!
Science Girl grin!
After a visit to the planetarium we stopped on the patio to see volunteers from the Dudley Observatory.
So now we are ready for a quiet weekend of house cleaning, errands, game and movie night! Maddie and I are off to the library to swap out the copy of The Throne of Fire from the library. We got to disc 10 and it won't play!! Oh no! The most exciting part. Hope you enjoyed catching up with us!!
Love this piece............especially the SPAC AGD night part. Aren't our girls cute?
ReplyDeleteYou bet they are! Not that I am in any way at all biased. :0)
