While all that was fun we were anxious to get to the 4H building and visit Maddie's projects. Maddie was thrilled to be picked this year for the state fair!! Her achievement book was chosen to go.
You can tell by the big grin how happy she was with the news.
We also stopped by to see how the other projects were doing.
The sewing kit was fine.
The paper project was not too fine...it was falling apart in the humidity. Next time we use tacks!
And Whiskers needed a hug, a pat on the head and a promise we would be back the next night to get her.
Then it was on to Strawberry Shortcake making. We wanted a busy shift and we got a busy shift! Lots of people wanted water and other drinks due to the high heat. The girls shared the job of making the shortcakes. I think we sold about 15. Maddie found someone doing free face painting and she made a strawberry for Maddie!
A little fun never hurts!
We saw some neat things while in the snack shop like kids taking geese for a walk...
And the Irish band went by a few times...
As you can see Maddie really enjoyed watching them when they stopped next to us for a bit:
We took a little break after our shift and watched the k-9 Frisbee dogs. All the dogs have been rescued by the man doing the stunts with them. They obviously love him a lot!! He had hurt his knee earlier in the day but was trying his best to keep the show and his schedule going. They all did a great job despite that trouble!
Then it was on to the rides. Here are Maddie and me waiting for a turn on the big slide.
One of Maddie's favorite rides is the "hang glider". She made friends with another little boy while waiting in line and they rode together.
Tomorrow I will add more about the State Fair!!
