We have been working on learning addition math facts. Maddie is supposed to complete at least 20 problems in one minute. While I know that in life you never actually get timed on how well you do addition facts when learning math you need to know them quickly and correctly. Maddie was so sluggish in these tests that it was frustrating for all of us. We were quite sure she wouldn't have a problem if she applied herself to it! So finally I told her we were going to have to do a sheet of problems 3 times a day. Maddie was horrified by the idea. Suddenly we jumped from doing 6 problems to 18 in one minute. Hmmmm....all stick and no carrot might be a good idea once in a while? Interesting. We have also been reading about the Plague and Hundred Years War/Joan of Arc for History. The science girl was both disgusted and intrigued by the Plague. We are continuing our study of the Solar System in Science and just starting to write a composition in English. We are preparing for 4H Presentation Day, the Gym Show and a Homeschool Science Fair at the Plaza! Busy, busy, busy.

The Toothless Wonder and the stick
Maddie lost another tooth! She now has gaps on both sides of her front teeth. The toothless wonder managed to yank out this tooth right before bed and was excited to get a visit from the tooth fairy.
