4H Presentations!

I'm so proud of my little Mohawk Monarchs. They did a great job today!! We participated in 4H Presentation Day which is a public speaking event. It was fun to be able to do our presentations after so much practice! A photographer from the Daily Gazette was there taking pictures of the kids. He took a picture of the girls with their pledge banner then asked for their names. It was funny to watch them try to remember under that pressure how to spell their name and where they lived.

We will have to check the paper tomorrow to see if Maddie made it in the paper!

First the girls did their group presentation which was the 4H Pledge.

After that Maddie did her individual presentation. She spoke a little bit about storytellers in the middle ages then told the story of Sir.Gawain and the Loathly Lady. She did a great job and we all enjoyed her telling of the story. Maddie did a wonderful interpretation of the Loathly Lady's voice. It is a very crackly sound.

After Maddie Norah took a turn to tell us how to make an origami fortune teller. Elyse, the teenage judge and fellow 4H girl, helped Norah get comfortable with the audience by having Norah show her how to make the fortune teller first. After that Norah was comfortable enough to do it for everyone. We love Elyse. We love Norah!

Once they were done they met with Elyse at the front table to go over their presentations. 4H uses a system where the judge starts with a positive comment then gives the presenter something they could work on for next time and ends with another positive comment. Then they were given certificates and ribbons! Yay!!

I can't wait to see what everyone decides to do next year.
