Pumpkin Carving and Stick Bug

Here is the pumpkin carving from Maddie's view. Momma was busy making dinner and Daddy was busy doing the actually carving so Maddie decided to do the picture taking! Maddie decided to do 2 faces this year, one on each side of the pumpkin. Brian and Maddie had a ton of fun doing this project just like they do every year.





This afternoon we got a call from Poppa Bill and Mamaw Mary to ask if they could stop by for a minute. Poppa had some things he found for Science Girl....a bird's nest which is in excellent shape including a tiny drain hole right in the center of the bottom and a stick bug! Maddie was fascinated by the stick bug. We got out the magnifying glasses and Poppa helped her find the eyes on it's legs! The bug got out of the box and crawled around for a bit on the coffee table. He is now secure (hopefully!) in his box with some oak leaves (Poppa did a little research and found they like those best) waiting to be released on Monday morning with the day care crew. We have opened the box many many times to check on him and he is still moving. Hopefully he makes it until Monday so Maddie can share and teach her young buddies. I had just finished her cheerleader outfit as you can see in the pictures!
