Projects!

Maddie has been very busy working on some projects. One of her own choosing and the other of Mom's. She discovered the activity book we got for her this year with Medieval Times studies called Days of Knights and Damsels This is an excellent book and one we will come back to many times I think! It has dress up ideas as you can see below but also recipes, games, making your own coat of arms and daily life activities. Naturally Maddie needed to make the princess hat!

We had a rough time making it stay on her head!

This Saturday we pulled out the rocks Maddie collected with Poppa on Tuesday so we could run some experiments. We measured them, put them in water to see patterns and colors better, weighed them in counting bears as well as lined them up from lightest to heaviest then we tested hardness with fingernails, a coin and a nail. It was a lot of fun and Maddie continued to experiment long after we were officially done.

I am also very excited...Maddie can finally spell Madeline Westervelt without an example in front of her. I can't say that I blame her very much, we certainly gave her a hard task with that! I also wasn't giving her much practice When I realized it I started having her write her full name on her math worksheet every day. Bam..got that!

We are reading several good books at the moment. Maddie is reading Dinner with Dingoes from The Magic Treehouse series of books to me. Yay!! I knew she could do it, she wasn't so sure. I am reading Ramona the Pest to Maddie at her request. Best of all is The Best Christmas Pageant Ever. Its such a good reminder of so many things! How to behave well to people less fortunate than you. What the Christmas story is all about....or what we should remember when we think of it!

So we have lots of fun going on! Halloween coming up soon too!!
