First Day of Dance Camp

Today was Maddie's first day of dance camp. She is going all week from 9:30-2:00 and taking everything: ballet, tap, jazz, gymnastics and baton. Maddie was not at all sure about it this morning before we left. There was a fit of hysterical tears that included things like "Momma don't make me go!" and "You don't love me.". After that last one I asked "I don't love you so much that I am making you go have fun?". She said "Yes! No!! What???". The main issue was that I was not going to stay and wait for her. Then I pointed out that if I am there she won't get to eat her cookie first. That made her think of a whole other world she has yet to experience: lunch from a bag without Momma watching over her shoulder!! Once we arrived she got caught up in the fun of seeing people she has missed over the last month including Mrs.Merritt who was waiting for us at the door with a big smile and "Hello Madeline!" Once she got moving she was all set!! In fact she stopped at the front desk to ask if she was also signed up for Hip Hop. No, she isn't old enough or experienced enough for the yet! It was a good sign though. Mrs.Merritt told me at the end of class that it was a bit hard for Maddie but overall she did very well. Thank goodness.... Now we are off to see Beezus and Ramona at the theater as a treat for a job well done and a little fun time with Momma!!
