Last weekend we took a trip to 5 Rivers to meet up with our 4H buddies. We met with Mike, a naturalist, who took us around a bit and helped the kids find animal signs. Scat, trails, and chewed beaver sticks were some of the popular ones! Especially the muddy beaver train across the road to get from one pond to another!
Maddie's favorite part in the education building was talking to Athena. Athena is a barred owl who lost an eye in a collision with a car and couldn't be released back into the wild.
Listening before we started!
Finding middens left by red squirrels
Mike had 2 skulls that he used to show some things to the kids. This one is a beaver skull.
