Nature Exchange Part 2

We worked quickly at packing up our egg carton with some of our finds from around home and the trip to Partridge Run. We had to mail it out on November 4 or as close to that as we could. We set up an assembly line of sorts. Maddie chose the item and helped Brian identify it. I wrote out the small slip of paper with the common name, scientific name and where we found it.

Then Maddie carefully wrapped the item and put it in the egg carton along with the slip of paper.

Then Maddie started working on the egg carton itself. We kept picking up leaves to press thinking they would be fun for someone not living in the Northeastern US with our variety of trees changing color. Unfortunately we realized there was no way to fit leaves inside the box. Mod Podge to the rescue! We used it to glue them to the top of the egg carton. We are hoping the top layer will also help protect them so they don't arrive in Scotland as a jumbled mess.

I think it came out really pretty. Maddie tried hard not to overlap the leaves too much but there were so many she wanted to send.

Here is what it looks like when you open the box. I can't wait to hear how the family liked the collection. They have a 5 year old and a 4 year old so we tried to aim for things they would like.

Everything is in route! We are just waiting for them to arrive. It was a lot of fun and we would do it again!
