Yarn Along-4H edition!

I'm happy to participate in the yarn along today! While reading Small Things I came across directions to teach children to knit and how to dye yarn with easter egg dye. That, in turn, in led me here and ideas started forming! My 4H group has children ages 5-10 which is wonderful but often Maddie and I wish for some "big kid" time. So I offered to teach the older kids how to knit. They were so excited and we've even picked up a couple of adults! So to get ready I made some needles and dyed some yarn with easter egg dye. It was so much fun! I think I will have to try more soon.

I'm reading Pocketful of Pinecones and loving it. I read it in the fall and am re-reading it again. It offers a lot of encouragement for this homeschool momma. The day care kiddos keep requesting Noodle's Knitting, a very cute story of a mouse learning to knit. The yarn feels fuzzy on almost every page so its no wonder they love it! I will post more about our knitting lessons. Hopefully it all goes well.

  4. Followed you over from Yarn Along. What a great way to introduce the kids to knitting! My daughter did some knitting in Girl Guides ... unfortunately, she made a bookmark and it all ended there, as I didn't know how to knit yet to encourage her to try more. Great work with the dyed yarn! Wendy
