Holiday on the Ave

This morning Maddie woke up to a scavenger hunt from Bob!
He hung a tag down from his perch to start her off.

Then to the kitchen to find an orange....

then to the dining room to look in a bowl...

then to the frogs...

and the fish....

finally to her mailbox where she found....

a lego minifigure! Wow! Bob is stepping things up this year!

This afternoon we went down to check out "Holiday on the Ave". They closed off the main part of the street through town and had holiday things going on. There was a chili contest, a band, smore making and, of course, Santa!

Bri and Maddie listening to the band.

Maddie wrote a letter to santa and put it in the mailbox. I'm not sure if you can see her writing on the letter. She asked for (of course!) a new doll, anything lego and something special for Collin. Collin is one of our day care kids who also attends church with us. On Thanksgiving he was diagnosed with neuroblastoma and has been on our minds almost all the time since. Maddie wanted to be sure Santa knew he needed something extra good this year. She knows how to tug and Momma and Daddy's hearts, thats for sure!

A little bit down the road we saw the big guy himself! Maddie walked into the "North Pole" with him and was first in line....which Momma and Daddy appreciated because about 2 seconds later the line was LONG!

A bit further down the road we stopped at Shop Talk where we get our hair cut. They were offering "gems" for your hair for $5. All the proceeds were going to a local charity that provides money and help to families fighting cancer. So Maddie picked some out and had them in her hair!

Fancy!

On the way home we stopped to see some goats. Maddie has loved goats since she was about 2 years old at the Catskill Game Farm. So naturally we stopped!

It was a lot of fun and a great kick off for the Christmas season.
