This shows Maddie's Christmas Playmobil set. Originally it was an advent calendar and we set it up like that last year too. Maddie got one piece per day until she made the scene. However this year she wanted to set up the whole thing all at once.
For the last 4 years or so we've had a Jesse tree which, to be quite honest, was kind of difficult for us. The scripture was difficult to interpret and make sense to us. This year I found something called Truth in the Tinsel and we decided to give it a try. For each day from December 1 to 24 Maddie will make a new ornament that relates to a part of the Christmas story. Included is scripture reading and ideas for extended activities. I gathered most of the materials then put the materials needed for each day in a paper lunch bag with a tag. The tags came from here. The tag has a riddle that relates to the clue for that day.
Apparently I need to dig up a bigger bag or basket to store our materials!
Proud Maddie with her first ornament! Poor kiddo has a touch of a cold....it always shows in her face when she isn't feeling good.
The ornament on the tree!!!
This morning Bob the Elf arrived! He brought donuts and hot chocolate for breakfast.
Bob left Maddie a note telling her he was happy to be back, that he saw her at the Festival of Trees (he was there in the YWCA tree!) and to be a good girl. Bob, however, does not take his own advice about being good. As you can see he was playing with the dolly clothes and stole one of their oranges. Perhaps he thought it would make a good snack!!
He also helped himself to some of the donuts!
What will that elf get up to next??? Stay tuned!!
