The Flower Girl
We had an interesting week! Maddie and a couple of the day care kids came down with a sore throat that caused larangitis and kindly shared it with Momma Jenn. So we had a lot of sign language and writing on whiteboards going on! Brian took a picture of Maddie at one point:
Obviously she was hungry, in fact so hungry that all spelling and phonics knowledge went right out the window! We watched National Treasure over the summer and Maddie really enjoyed it. At one point the young techie kid is in the back seat of a borrowed car and he says "I'm tired. I'm hungry. This car smells funny." So she added her version of "this car smells funny" to the end of her dinner request! Fortunately we were able to work through most of our schoolwork with a lot of help from Principal Dad since Teacher Momma couldn't read out loud! In math and a couple of other subjects I just had Maddie read along with me in the teacher's manual.
Fortunately Maddie was well enough by Friday to be ready to be the flower girl in our cousin Karen's wedding. On the way there we made a detour to SUNY Potsdam so Maddie could see where Momma went to college. She was interested and asked questions. She liked poking around. It was a good afternoon to do that since it was the start of Columbus Day weekend and there were only a few students about.
Maddie was thrilled to have a dress that looked just like the bridesmaids, have her own flowers to carry and to talk Poppa into dancing with her!
The day was beautiful and so was the bride!
Mr.& Mrs.Vincent Ballester!
Dancing with Poppa
Dancing with Mr.John, one of the children's choir director's at church....thank heavens he was there, it gave the rest of us a break for a minute!
As you can see Maddie had a lot of fun but certainly was pooped by the end of the evening....notice the sneaks? You have to be comfortable!
However she had enough energy left to get us up and moving in the Macarena...something she was waiting for since Vinny and Karen announced their engagement!
Thanks to Karen and Vinny for being such good sports with the flower girl. As you can see Momma just couldn't finish but I tried to stick in there as long as possible. Sharon stayed with her right to the bitter end....good cousin that she is. Lots of fun all around!! Congratulations to Karen and Vinny!!!!
