Cranberry Thanksgiving!

Maddie is just getting over strep throat. We had a long weekend of tv, books, puzzles, coloring and books on CD. We knew she was feeling better on saturday night because, after 2 days of quiet, she could not stop talking to go to sleep! For the first time in quite a while I had to sit with her and calm her into sleep. The snow did not help this at all and finally, on Sunday afternoon, I consented to let her go out in it for a short bit of time. We started our grammar lessons this week to round out the phonics and spelling we have been doing. We started with nouns and Maddie was ready to go. Today we read the poem The Caterpillar and will be trying to memorize it for recitation. This is our last week of Math until the beginning of the new year. She has done so well that we are already half way through the book and its time to concentrate a bit more on some other things. We will continue to do our "morning meeting" which consists of the calendar, weather and counting in various ways as well as practicing math facts with flash cards but the daily lessons will be skipped for now. We will be making another lapbook to go with The Polar Express which is one of our favorite books. Enjoy the video of Maddie showing off her Cranberry Thanksgiving lapbook!! We made this Sunday night after 3 days of enforced rest on the couch....can you tell?
