Snowy Owl!!!

Maddie and I have been reading all sorts of information about snowy owls in the last month or so. They are moving into our area in great numbers for the winter and we were hoping to see one. Well, we heard a rumor that there was one at the airport and we took a trip there today. Yay!! We saw one. We came down the road a bit and saw cars all lined up along the side of the road. We said this must be the spot and pulled over. A really nice man name Jim moved quickly to lower his scope down so Maddie could see the owl up close and personal. It was either a female or a young male because there were bars on the wings. Maddie was thrilled!!

These are funny. I made several attempts to get a somewhat good picture of the owl. I knew it wouldn't be great since my camera really isn't for this type of thing but I had to try!

 Finally I thought "Oh, I'm just going up to the fence". I thought I would be giving some poor security man fits but no one showed up so I guess they are used to it now!

This is as good as it was going to get! Shortly after I took this shot the owl took off a bit. Brian thought she (he?) may have caught something but it was hard to tell from our vantage point.
