Last Camping of the Season!

We had promised Maddie one more camping trip this year and time slipped away before we realized it! We were able to make a reservation for Sacandaga Campground for 2 nights. Maddie and I buzzed up early Friday afternoon and put up the tent then went back down to get Brian from work. I will admit to thinking that first night we made a bad mistake because we were frozen but the weather warmed up Saturday and the next night was comfortable.

Maddie had a very funny typical kid moment on Wednesday morning. She came banging downstairs at about 6:50am and threw her suitcase on the couch. She wanted me to check her packing and make sure she was all set for camping. When I pointed out that we still had 2 days to go she said she just wanted to be ready! She was ready alright!! Here are some of her photos from the minute we arrived.

 Ranger to Maddie: Would you like to do the Jr.Naturalist booklet?

Maddie: YES!!!

Ranger: Have you done one already this year?

Maddie: yes....

Ranger: Would you like to do it again?

Maddie: YES!!!!

I think this was mostly to determine if they would give her the patch right then or make her come back. We got it all at once.

We took a walk Saturday afternoon to scout out other campsites. The one we picked this time was not that great. Its a good thing we no longer have the van because it would've been a tight squeeze! Now we have a map with the good ones circled for another time.

We also had to scout out the ferns. We need to view one under the microscope and I was hoping for spores on the back. It was a successful hunt!

While Brian and I were taking down the tent Maddie said, out of the blue, "You two really love each other.".  What a sweet kid and how nice that she noticed it takes teamwork to make this work!
