At the American Camp there was a church service going on which Mamaw. Poppa and Maddie listened to for a bit. It was cold, Brian and I forgot sweatshirts and since they were in the shade we took a walk down the path in the sun for a bit! After that Maddie was able to learn how to drill with Sergeant Olson. Sergeant Olson was a riot. He kept making comments to the kids and parents that were too funny. Maddie was one of 2 left handed kids and they were told that everyone in the army is right handed, too bad. It was a lot of fun to watch and Maddie really enjoyed it! She was taking it very seriously for the most part. The kid next to her kept being silly so she did finally lose it for a minute at one point!

The "real" troops getting ready to go on a scouting mission!
Mamaw and Poppa went to the truck and were gone for at least 2 minutes so a good greeting was needed!
Some of the kids went along on the scouting mission! Maddie opted for lunch.
Tailgating due to wind!
Nice view from our tailgate lunch.
The fun part was costumed people kept popping up. This guy came walking along while we were eating lunch.
After lunch we headed to the British camp to see a cannon demonstration. Maddie told us we were spies but just act natural! It was interesting but not as fun as the American Camp.
We left the British Camp after the cannon demonstration and stopped at the next stop hoping for cupcakes in a sheltered spot. There wasn't one but there was a beautiful view of the Hudson River and beyond.
So we moved along to the last stop on the tour road, stop 10. There we got to see in person the tree that was struck by lightning during last week's bad thunderstorm. Maddie hammed it up for the camera!
And, finally, cupcakes with strawberries and whip cream to celebrate being officially 10!
Maddie had to do some necessary "ranger work" before we left.

We had a wonderful fun day to celebrate turning 10!!
