First Day of 4th grade!

This morning was our first day of fourth grade. Maddie wasn't too excited by the thought until she arrived downstairs. It would seem the Back to School Fairy aka Daddy & Momma arrived the night before to wish Maddie a happy day!

Goodies!

New dresses for Maddie, Emily, Samantha and Felicity. Thank heavens for pillowcase dresses and stash fabric!

After getting into all that with the promise of chocolate chip pancakes to come Maddie found her smile!

 Getting ready to try on!

Once she was fed and dressed (and the dolls too!) we were ready to go. The day care kids were excited to have new crayons, markers and papers as well so everyone was happy. There is just something about a new box of crayons.....

The day lived up to our expectations. The morning meeting book I made up using ideas from here and here since the new math program didn't have one. Brian and I really liked that idea even though we didn't like the old math program. Maddie loved the new morning meeting book. She even said at one point "I'm having so much fun Momma!" WITH MATH....be still my heart. Then she was off to Daddy's office to work with him on music appreciation and world geography. I could hear them talking and then, after a bit, we could hear Gregorian chants floating down. I'm so thankful that Brian is able to do that with her a few times a week. It lightens the burden on me and gives them some special time. After that she was on to the new math program. This one is on the computer with Momma listening in a bit from the other room and checking answers. I scheduled in a break there because I knew she would need it and she needed me to complete the rest of the assignments. So we tried out our new physical education program called Family Time Fitness. The day care kids joined in and we all had some good laughs (once it was explained to everyone under 4 that head butting is not part of gym class thanks much!). My muscles are aching tonight!! Maddie isn't going to be the only one benefiting from that program! The afternoon went just as well as the morning with nothing new really other than physics.

I was planning on taking more pictures but, to be honest, we were just having too much fun to be bothered. After all, that's how its supposed to be! If it wasn't fun to have her here then we would be doing something terribly wrong.

So we are off and running in fourth grade! I think its going to be a good year and fun too!!
