Last week I printed out a resurrection set from here. Maddie used her watercolor paints to color in the images then I cut them out and put them together. I also colored in the cross and the image of Jesus that was supposed to go on the cross. Maddie just really, really doesn't like that part of the story at all. I have decided that at least she is no longer crying about it like she did when she was 4. It took many of us to convince Maddie, at the time, that Jesus died, once, a long time ago and that it was not an annual event. If I remember correctly it took Brian, me, Mamaws and Poppas and Mrs.Clark (Maddie's wonderful Sunday school teacher) to accomplish that! So, if for the moment she doesn't really want to discuss it but there are no tears, thats fine!
On Easter morning we took Jesus from the tomb, replaced him with just the table and linen wrappings then left the rock aside. Maddie also put the second angel on the top of the tomb because she was holding a sign that said "He is Risen!". We also hunted for eggs and checked out Maddie's basket filled with fun stuff.
Then it was off to church. We were the greeters for this morning which was a lot of fun. A lot of people came and its nice to be able to welcome them into church with smiles and "Happy Easter!". I had to take a picture of Maddie with her friend Katherine. Katherine just got Marie-Grace and also had a matching outfit. The 4 of them were so cute how could I resist?
After church we were off to Poppa Bill and Mamaw Mary's house for a ham dinner and fun with them. Poppa Bill set up his blind in the backyard so Maddie could check it out. She had a good time out in the yard looking for birds and coming up with stories of her own to play. She also took some pictures to check out how the blind worked.
Now we are home doing fun things like washing the day care quilts and making homeschool plans for the coming week! Maddie was supposed to have the week off but we took a week off when we were sick and some light weeks after that when we were recuperating. If we still want to finish in mid-May we need to keep going! So thats what we are going to do!!
