Dance Recital 2011

Last week was dress rehersal for the big recital! Maddie was in 2 dances this year: Californa Gurls and Red Rappin Hood. She was so excited to try on both outfits that we had a mini photo session.

Saturday had rain in the forecast and they weren't kidding. It made getting our things done and keeping the hair dry a challenge but we did it! Our first trip was to visit the hair salon to get Maddie's hair fixed. I was not at all confident about putting her hair up so that it would stay up throughout the performance. Andrea did a great job!

Naturally the rain was coming right down when it was time to go!


Finally we got to see dance #1-Californa Gurls!

When we got home I heard Brian ask Maddie why she had glasses on when no one else did. The answer was a giggly "Oh no!! I forgot to take them off!"

Then after a wait we got to see Red Rappin Hood!

This one was really cute. Red Rappin Hood is making everyone crazy with her talking! Maddie got ahead of everyone again for a bit. Something to work on! She did so well though. She is ahead of where she is supposed to be since we cannot make the time for the primary classes. So all in all I am impressed with how well she did! Especially after only 3 years of dance....she is dancing with kids who have been doing this since they were 3 years old.

We went home to a dinner of hot dogs and kraft macaroni and cheese as requested by the dancer. Mamaw Mary and Poppa Bill were able to come for dinner with us. Poppa brought Maddie a new flashlight to round out her delight in the day. Now she can read hands free in the dark!
