First off, we have had rain, lots of rain. Rain, rain, and more rain. Maddie was so happy when it finally stopped for a moment that she quickly put on her new to her Aunt Elsie rain boots and zipped outside for a stomp in the mud!!
This is the look I get when she is tired of picture taking!!
We have been reading about Queen Elizabeth I in history. Maddie has been waiting and waiting. She loves to read about this queen. I have to say if its one thing Maddie admires its strength of personality and people who stick to their convictions. Queen Elizabeth I certainly falls into that category. One morning I read out of her activity book the parts of Queen Elizabeth's coronation. That quickly led to a shortened version of a re-enactment with her day care buddy's help and the dolls as the crowds.
Poor Elizabeth didn't get this good a hug though I bet!
Maddie has also inherited Bob McBird, the marionette I had as a child. My second goal in life after becoming a teacher was to be Jim Hensen. Maddie renamed him Greenfeather and got the hang of making him move right away.
On the Wednesday before Memorial Day we had all the day care families plus some friends over for the Memorial Day Parade. It goes right by the house and is a ton of fun. The kids were all over the place with all the adults having eyes on everyone. You could tell it was a party for families with young kids....none of the adults sat down to eat!
Maddie and Norah figured out they could snuggle up together to see the parade.
We got to see the marching band from my school...Scotia-Glenville. It seems bigger than I remember it being when I was marching!
Then on the weekend Maddie learned to ride her bike! This was without any training wheels, ever. We thought the agony of trying to get her to let us take them off was not worth any small benefit we might get from putting them on. She is off and rolling now! Thanks to Poppa Bill for the pictures and Bri for the video.

And I leave you with what has become the family phrase around here for good or bad.....
