We decided to have Maddie's big birthday party on Saturday the 11th so we could be outside. The day turned out beautiful weather-wise and we had a blast at the party! She wanted a science party. I found Steve Spangler's science website which actually had birthday party themes. One was Fashion Science. Could there possibly be anything more "Maddie"? So we made color changing bead bracelets and sharpie tie dye t-shirts. The t-shirts were the coolest thing. You make a design on the t-shirt with a sharpie then you squirt rubbing alcohol on it. The rubbing alcohol makes the sharpie marks spread out. We had a tie-dye cake with checkerboard ice cream per Maddie's request. Then we ended the day with diet coke and mentos geysers. Most of the kids didn't get splashed but Bri and I were soaked! I forgot a vital part of the instructions with one child. She didn't let go of the pin on the geyser tube so we were chased by the soda bottle gushing soda out at us all the way down our hill. If we can manage to get the video cut down I will put it on here. All in all we had a ton of fun!!
Maddie got busy inspecting and playin with her presents saturday night. These included a pizza chef Barbie and a couple of Polly Pockets. All of the sudden I hear her saying something odd in the living room about them. I went in to check and she had turned Barbie into Gulliver and the Polly Pockets were the Lilliputians. A very clever use of the dolls all together I thought!!
Enjoy the pictures!
