She is also working on memorizing the first five presidents. Sometimes she can remember them all and sometimes she needs help. They are on a poster next to the bookcase where she is peeking. Maddie has had some trouble saying "Monroe" generally it comes out "Moron". We have been practicing a lot. The latest was yelling "Monroe" back and forth to each other across the yard which caused a lot of giggling by the day care bunch and the littlest one to dance around yelling "row! row!". We keep things interesting!
In history this week we read about Genghis Kahn and Kublai Kahn. I love the way we are studying history, Maddie can already recognize patterns. As soon as I read that Genghis Kahn was gathering up all the mongol tribes, Maddie said "Uh-oh, can't be good",and sure enough in the next paragraph they were invading China. Later we read Kublai Kahn's descendents split up the empire and Maddie said "I know where this is going." and yes, that was pretty much the end of their domination.
Tonight, for the pure fun of it, I put some snow and a large chunk of ice in a storage bin. Then I sent Maddie to go get her Arctic Toob She got the idea immediately and spent a good amount of time playing with them in the snow and ice on the table while I worked on dinner. Maddie loves the toobs and we are always thinking up ways to use them.
